Dan Stroup scored with less than two minutes remaining to give the Toronto Rock a 9-7 victory over the Wings in Toronto and send the defending National Lacrosse League champions reeling into the all-star break with a 1-5 record.
With the score tied at 7, the Rock's Rodd Squire picked up a rebound and passed to Jim Veltman, who passed to Stroup, who was wide-open in front of Wings goalie Dallas Eliuk.
Pat Coyle scored an empty-netter a few seconds later to ice it for the Rock.
Toronto, playing in front of 10,166 at Maple Leaf Gardens, improved to 3-2.
Stroup and Chris Gill each scored two goals for the Rock. Veltman picked up four assists.
Sean Radebaugh scored two goals for the Wings, and Kevin Finneran and Tom Marechek each contributed a goal and two assists.
