Everyone keeps answering Gary and Paul for question 1.
One could be right, but NOT BOTH. in 1991, Gary had more points (32-36-68) but Paul had more goals (47-19-66). But they BOTH played for the Detroit Turbos and the bonus question was "What current NLL coach led his team in scoring in that league in the same year?" and Paul could not have led the Turbos in scoring if Gary led the league in scoring (unless all you wanted to know was who led his team in goals). The Bandits didn't start -- I don't think -- until 1992, so it can't be Darris Kilgour (who would have finished behind Tavares anyway -- or Hamley or Cordingley, and Tom Ryan was a mid-90s player (and never a top scorer). Ditto Batley. Keenan was a goalie, Huntley, Comeau, Dowling and McMahon ... nope. Duane Jacobs started his career in Detroit, I think, so he would have been behind the Gaits too. SO, I'm thinking the twist must be that he "led his team in scoring in THAT league," which would mean maybe NOT in the MILL that season. That puts me out of my comfort zone, but if I had to bet, it would be that Darris Kilgour won the scoring title for whatever team he was on back then (and Gary Gait led the MILL in points). |

you're incorrect. i think the twist is, when refering to head lead the league in scoring, hes clearly asking who won the goals race. which was paul. the answers are here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_MILL_season |

i think it has to be Paul seeing as he is the only current NLL coach that was playing in the 1991 season. but then again how could he do that?
Gary's Stats 1991 Detroit G-32 A-36 PTS-68 Paul's Stats 1991 Detroit G-47 A-19 PTS-66 Direct from WIKIPEDIA Stat Player Team Number Goals Paul Gait Detroit 47 Assists Gary Gait Detroit 36 Points Gary Gait Detroit 68 Penalty Minutes Neil Doddridge Detroit 39 so if the stats are right and I read the question correctly Gary Gai was the leading scorer of that season with 68 points so insto-facto he was his teams leading scorer. And seeing as Paul is the only coach that was in the league during that year it would there for result in an technicality in the question. and since he refers to the leading scorer in the first question, asking for the guy who led his team in scoring seems to depict he is asking the same thing. or on the other hand. it could be a trick question as Tutka is asking : Who was the leading regular season scorer (goals and assists) of the NLL in 1991? it was called the MILL back in '91. so again he could have been trying to trick us. You sneaky bastard Tutka.... Last edited by thegreenbastard; 02-28-2009 at 03:25 AM. |

the MILL and NLL are esentially merged. anything that happened in the mill is part of the NLL recordbooks. so assuming its a trick question that means "there was no NLL" would be incorrect as then JT would be nowhere near 1400 points and other all time points wouldnt count

Back in 1991 the only league named NLL was the one in Canada.
It consisted of 4 teams Whitby Steelhawks, Brantford Warriors, Guelph Power and the Buffalo Rengades. Top ten in scoring - Derek Keenan, Gerry Hiltz, Greg VanSickle, John Fusco, Jim Meredith, Troy Cordingley, Kip Rennick, Bob Hamley, Joe Hiltz, Jim Veltman. All 10 ended up playing in the new NLL which started in 1992. Here are a few more names from the 91 Canadian NLL - Duane Jacobs, Rich Kilgour, Jeff Dowling, Ed Comeau, Brian Shanahan, Glenn Clark, Paul St.John, John Munroe, Jim Milligan and Paul Day. |
