Default Scoring leaders ... projections

Interesting piece by Tutka .... his math is projecting Iannucci could break the single-season scoring record .... and, being an American, it's nice to see C Powell and Bergey having such big seasons.

Nationalities aside ... it's shaping up to be a nice race for the points title ... pretty exciting stuff to keep track of, for sure.

I'm looking forward to seeing him, too. I think I'm going to the Wings game in Rochester. Should be a good one.

At this point, Iannucci is on pace to shatter the goal scoring record, which I believe is 61 (though I'm not 100% sure). The question is, can he keep up the pace?

It's so early in the season for him (only 5 games) that it's tough to accurately measure his pace - one bad game could really throw off the numbers. Hypothetically, let's say he has a bad game tonight (2g, 1a) and an average one on Saturday (3g, 2a). All of a sudden he'd be on pace for 100 points instead of 115, and 68 goals instead of 80.

He's an amazing player, but I really don't think he can sustain this pace. He has a good shot at breaking the goals record, but I don't think he'll finish with 115 points.

he has a good shot at the goals record i see no signs of slowing down so far
even with the 3 weeks off from gametime he still lite up colorado
do i expect him to average 7 pts a game all season thats damn near impossible but could he do it yes lets see how tonight goes last game vs NY he had 6 goals

No problem tonight six goals and none were easy. He always had at last one person hanging on him. It will interesting to see what happens at Buffalo. If he scores 5 or 6 Look Out Record.

Well, he proves me wrong again. If he keeps this up I will be amazed, but he shows no signs of slowing down.

One thing that bodes well for him is that he's regularly taking 20+ shots a night. Most players with 4 or 5 goal nights get a bit lucky and do it with far fewer shots, but Iannucci's shooting percentage is just a little better than average. So it can be presumed that as long as he continues to get the same types of opportunities, he can keep this pace (and so far nobody's been able to deny him those opportunities). It's even conceivable that on 25 shots he could have a 10 goal night with only a .4 shooting percentage.
