Thumbs up 2008 Fann Cup Announcements

Hello Fann Cuppers;

Well, here is the first of two announcements we will be releasing this week. The second will be on Friday March 7th.

Here are your basics:

2008 Fann Cup
Rochester, NY

July 25th - 27th, 2008

Hotel:
Crowne Plaza Downtown Rochester
585.546.3450 ask for reservations when you call
Group Code: Fann Cup Tournament (FCT)
Rate: $95.00 per night You can book for one or two nights.
Booking deadline for this rate is May 31st, after that it increases to around $150US.
A credit card is required to guarantee your reservations, but you can cancel up to 6pm the night of check-in.
Complimentary Airport Shuttle to Greater Rochester International Airport.

I have asked them to put most of us on the Pool Level facing the Pool, which means your room would open onto the pool deck, Very Fann Cup. Haha You may want to make a request of that anyway if you want one of those rooms.
$4.00 Parking per vehicle per night. Team Captains may have complimentary parking, we're working on that.

Tournament Venue:

Rochester Sports Garden - www.rocsportsgarden.com
1460 East Henrietta Road
Rochester, NY 14623

(585) 427-2240 Phone
(585) 427-2241 Fax

Two floors of action this year, upping the guaranteed number of games every team will get to play.
Turf surface, cooled by 2 - 60 foot ceiling fans per playing surface
We have rented the entire facility which includes a basketball court where our very own Rochester Razorsharks PBL team will be taking on all comers in HORSE for a donation.
There are also batting cages and maybe a table tennis table so Hittrain (1996 US Table Tennis Olympic Team Alternate) can beat down people with his sneaker, cell phone, paper plate. Trust me, it is something to behold and be embarrassed by.
There will be changing areas, but no locker rooms, there is one set of bathrooms, one male, one female.
There is a full service "restaurant" on the premises that will be open for most of the day. www.salvatores.com/menus/henrietta.pdf

Registration Party Meet and Greet
Friday, July 25th
6:00pm until ?
Stock Exchange Restaurant
One First Federal Plaza (literally right next to the Crowne Plaza, in the building on the right side of the Fann Cup logo)
They will actually be open around 4:00pm for anyone who wants to get there early.
Full menu available as well as a special "Fann Cup Filth Plate". The Filth Plate is only $5.99 and will soak up ample amounts of beverage. A Rochester Tradition.
$2.00 Labatt Blue/Blue Light Drafts
All players will be able to pick up their Fann Cup Registration Bags at this Party.
If you won't be making it to Rochester on Friday Night, please notify your Captains and we'll get your bag to you before that weekend.
There is an outdoor covered smoking area for those who smoke.

Post Tournament Banquet
Stock Exchange Restaurant
One First Federal Plaza (again literally right next door to the Crowne Plaza, in the building on the right side of the Fann Cup logo)
7:30pm start time, but again they will be open earlier if you want to meander over.
One banquet ticket will be included with each players fee. Additional banquet tickets can be purchased for a nominal fee.
There will be two buffet lines in a special seating area outside of the restaurant.
There will be two full service bars as well during the banquet.
There is an outdoor covered smoking area for those who want to enjoy their Fann Cup cigars.
Draft Beer will be $3 and other drinks are priced reasonably.
Due to NYS Liquor Authority regulations though, there won't be any Flip Cup, Beer Pong, etc. on the premises of the Stock Exchange. What you do back at your hotel rooms is of your own accord?

Please let us know if you have any questions about what we've announced here on this thread. Obviously, Players Fees and Charity questions will have to wait until Friday March 7th.

If anyone is coming to Rochester and wants to volunteer to help with any of the game day items such as selling raffle tickets, 50/50, auctions, etc. your help is more than welcome. Please feel free to let us know on here or by contacting your team's captain.

Thanks everyone from the 2008 Fann Cup Committee. It's lining up to be a blast.

That Guy, Arrrgh, Khawksfan, Knabber

This is how I imagine the various parts of the body communicating at Fann Cup this year:
*ring-ring*
*ring-ring*
Hello, liver? Yeah, this is the brain calling. Ummmm, yeah...I know it's been a whole 12 hours, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that there's a set of hands that're going to be sending down some stuff that wants to kick your a$$. No, no worries, just thought you should know. Yeah, it's a little short notice, and I know that water that we sent down earlier isn't sitting so well, seeing as it's 90F outside, but there you have it...what can you do?
Oh, just an update, too...we got the Betty Ford Clinic booked already. No, it's all good...I'll see you again in a few weeks, okay? Take it easy!

You and Foggy will be watching what you eat and drink BEFORE the FC. No repeats of last year. Afterwards, you may do as you please.

Already have my hotel reservation and vacation time set!

Bring on the dancing goalies... err ..ah never mind.

No last time it was at ESL about 1 mile away.

As for the wings at the stock. They are very good. I devoured a dozen just last night.

Sure enough, that's why we called it the POST Tournament Banquet.

Knabber da think it is perfect stumbling distance from the Stock Exchange to the Hotel.

Thumbs up Alright Charities are Set!

Hi Everyone;

We're not quite set on player's fees just yet, running a few more numbers and seeing if we can get some mandatory items donated or reduced in price first. We will have something next week I promise.

Today's announcement is the charities we are supporting this year for Fann Cup:

Exact percentages of donations is not set yet, but we have two charities this year, both equally deserving and we know our donations will have a huge impact since they're smaller charities.

First Charity is Finger Lakes Regional Burn Association. www.flrba.com

Second Charity is the RocE6 inner city youth lacrosse program in downtown Rochester. www.roce6.com

Both of these charities are exemplary charities that embody what Fann Cup is all about, helping each other and expanding the sport of lacrosse.

We are gathering information from both charities for any companies that would like to make donations and deduct them on their taxes and we'll have that information in the near future.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the 2008 Fann Cup Committee. That Guy, Khawksfan, Arrrgh or Haftalax

Thanks everyone, everything is coming together perfectly.

Knabber da pretty excited about these charities

Talking Players Fees are Set

Alright Captains Especially, Tune In:

The 2008 Fann Cup players fees are set.

It will be $55 per player, a minimum of 15 players per roster are to be paid in full by May 31st, 2008 for a total of $825 US. We are setting the deadline for the remainder of your rosters and will announce that as soon as it is set. Just like last year, the players fees will rise as we get closer to the July 26th Tournament.

Captains, please contact Khawksfan (John Donnelly) to arrange to make your payments.

The fees have risen this year, but will include a t-shirt for every player, guaranteed minimum number of games played per team since we have two playing fields, a banquet ticket, a current issue of Inside Lacrosse and we are working on many more items for your registration bags this year as well.

As you know the fees cover everything from venue rental (which this year we are shutting the facility down as a private event, no one except Fann Cup players, guests, spectators will be allowed to use the facility) to referee costs, insurance costs, banquet costs, minimum tent and chair rental costs for inside the RSG, t-shirts, etc. The remainder left over from the registration fees will be donated equally to both charities along with proceeds from the fundraisers held all weekend.

We're looking forward to an amazing event this year and continuing the tradition of the Fann Cup.

The Knighthawks Krew is sponsoring a NLL Pre-Game Radio Show for the All Star Game on 1040 WYSL and www.wysl1040.com this Sunday from 3pm to 4pm on behalf of the 2008 Fann Cup. Listen in for the promotions and bring your friends and family to Rochester this summer.

Knabber on behalf of the 2008 Fann Cup Committee

So what do "interested parties" need to know?

GC;

We are working on a website, but all of the information that anyone should need so far is listed in this thread.

By our timeline, we are two months ahead of schedule with planning and a website, while important, is not critical at this point.

By interested parties, I'm not sure if you mean potential players or sponsors. If they have questions that you can't answer, please feel free to have them contact us. We'll do our best to answer any questions that they have.

Congratulations to everyone who has booked rooms so far, 35 rooms have been booked in just the short amount of time that the block has been open.

Hope this answers the question, we're keeping costs down by utilizing resources from past Fann Cups with minor adjustments to reflect the changes of this year.

Knabber da so glad of our progress so far, we're so far ahead of where we wanted to be at this point.

Hey Knabber ...

I've offered the use of last year's website (it costs me nothing - thanks to lax-tv.com, so it will also cost you nothing) at least 3 times now. I can give whoever you want to do the updates admin access to the site and teach them how to post information. It is all web based and does not require any html knowledge or experience at all. I'd even be willing to adapt a new template for the site if you wanted to change the look. With running 3 sites of my own, right now, I don't have the time to do the updates for you, but I'm more than willing to help get you up and running.

The offer still stands if you want it.

Bandit

Talking Ask and you shall receive.

Thanks Bandit;

We were working behind the scenes, but had some software and transfer issues to deal with with switching computers and files, but we got everything up and going.

We will definitely need your help in getting the online forms figured out, but for everyone who wants to defer to a website, here you go:

http://www.fanncup.com

We didn't want to build a whole new site every year, so we've gone back to the address above.

Torrrock has volunteered to do the updates as needed, but by this morning it looks like most everything is up there.

Once again, I would love to talk to you about how you created the online forms such as registration, waiver, insurance forms and I would like to add a digital signature capability this year, so the forms can be submitted 100% online if desired.

That's what makes Fann Cup so special is that all of the fans can work together every year to make it the best event possible.

Knabber da thanks again to Torrrock and Whipperrocks for doing the 2008 Fann Cup website for us.
