Default Toronto to get MLL team?

Interesting. I don't think they'll do too well -- too many box purists that will scoff at MLL. Will BMO have much of an atmosphere if it's even 5K full (which would be a GREAT crowd at most MLL venues)? What do you guys think?

if they get 5K the mll will be there.
the supposed big loss of aeg w/ la, its a popular rumor that looks like its sticking, and being a league that relied more on corp sponsorship than the nll, i wasn't even sure there would be an mll this summer.

Mr. Stienfeld seems pretty intent (stubborn) on keeping the MLL going so I'm not surprised it hasn't shut down. I just wisht the two pro leagues would put their differences aside and come together to promote lacrosse. It will be interesting to see what happens if Toronto MLL comes to fruition.

this is a country where box rules so they'll have to do a good job at promoting interest int he field game if they want to keep support up after the newness wears off in a year or 2

that being said, I'm definitely interested and have even looked into average season ticket prices for other teams already.

How much cache does BMO Park have in Toronto? Like, will casual fans go see the MLL team just so they can get inside since MLS has been selling out? I know the Denver Outlaws benefit a bit from that at Mile High...

-Outdoor stadium with nice summer breezes off lake? or,

-stinky 105degree sweatbox arena?

Even if it is a goofy verion of field lacrosse, it's got one thing going for it over summer box.

Default Field Lacrosse

It has another thing going for it as well. Scholarships.
There are more and more kids playing field for part of the year in Ontario.
All your best bantam, midget box players are playing field as well.
You can't go to Duke on a box lacrosse scholarship, but you can field.

The ladies as well are playing field.

Not sure how it all translates into numbers willing to watch it on a regular basis.

Which is exactly why I'm hoping I can play more field lacrosse to get a chance at a possible scholarship. Our club was also accepted to play field, so we're adding that many more players to field lacrosse.

Maybe the OLA can partner up with the MLL team and promote them? It'd be a good time to do it, since everybody is caught up in hockey during the winter.

BMO Field is not that big of a draw, you can rent it for $150 and hour.

They would have to promote this like crazy to get any fans at all to the games. The atmosphere would be ok if they get 5000 and only open 1 side of the field.

I just don't see it working.

I would love to see Buffalo get an MLL team, just so I don't have to root for Rochacha

But seriously, I would love it

shouldn't be hard seeing as it's not philly's team anymore.
i think that if you market it to the bandits crowd then they
should get a good showing, if not then they can move again,
but at least they'll have a home for a season or two

Well, damn. If Buffalonians could have a winter boxla team to go nuts about, AND a summer fieldla team to cheer on, I'd be in heaven.
