Default 2009 NLL Entry Draft order

From NLL Insider... Sorry, Boston - No #1 pick for ya this year. :-D

However, Rochester is getting the top two picks, barring trades. If draft was taken today --- this is how its going to be.

Read disclaimer at the end of this thread.

2009 NLL Entry Draft Order, First Round

1. Rochester Knighthawks (via Edmonton Rush)
2. Rochester Knighthawks (via Toronto Rock)
3. Minnesota Swarm
4. Colorado Mammoth
5. Colorado Mammoth (via Rochester Knighthawks)
6. Toronto Rock (via San Jose Stealth)
7. Toronto Rock (via Edmonton Rush, via Portland Lumberjax)
8. Boston Blazers
9. Edmonton Rush (via Buffalo Bandits)
10. New York Titans
11. Calgary Roughnecks
12. Edmonton Rush (via San Jose Stealth, via Chicago Shamrox)

This is how the first round stands as of today, but depending on what goes on during the NLL’s off-season in regards to team movement and trades, things could obviously change.

well sid smith is the obvious #1 - all of a sudden once he arrive the orange are a defensive juggernaut - so some say zach greer but i'll be looking @ billings from uva. that delgarno kid has to rank high as well. among the yanks, there is cornell's siebald but you gotta be impressed how crotty has stepped it up @ duke.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dalgarno goes to the Swarm to team him up offensively with Buchanan just like in college at The Ohio State.

This weekend is the USILA North-South All-Star Game in Boston. Last year, Marty O'Neill and the Arlottas went to this game and drafted Joe Cinosky, Andrew Watt, Kevin Buchanan, Ricky Pages, Bruce Bickford and Justin Haworth, who all played in the 2008 game. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Swarm draft a few players from this game either. Two guys from Notre Dame are playing which may intrigue alum Swarm owner John Arlotta.

Default So...

... why do none of Roy's positions list the Wings draft pick?

Yeah, I know the Wings dealt it away, but to who, or how many more times was it moved?

Plus how does Chicago [the 12th pick?!] still rate owning a pick? Shouldn't that pick have been the Champs' - Calgary's?

Just looking for further clarification of "the list" since it may get used several times like last year's list.

I would think Philly would have #4 and Colorado would have #5 and 6 with the rest moving down based on the seeding by the NLL in this article. Not sure how the Rush get the last pick but if Tutka got it from the league, he got it from the league. Just go in reverse for draft positioning leaving out trades:

1 Calgary (12-4)
2 New York (10-6)
3 Buffalo (10-6)
4 Boston (10-6)
5 Portland (9-7)
6 San Jose (7-9)
7 Rochester (7-9)
8 Colorado (7-9)
Out of the playoffs
9. Philadelphia (7-9)
10. MINNESOTA (6-10)
11. Toronto (6-10)
12. Edmonton (5-11)

I wonder if Philly would get the pick back or if they just lose it since they traded to Chicago.

Quote:
03/05/2008
PHILADELPHIA WINGS: Traded Matt Roik, Brad Self, their first round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft and their second round selection in the 2010 Entry Draft to Chicago in exchange for Brandon Miller and a second round selection in the 2008 Entry Draft. Signed Matt Eckerl to the Active Roster
This may be the #12 pick for Edmonton

Quote:
First - Chicago trades to San Jose

08/29/2008
SAN JOSE STEALTH: Traded Anthony Cosmo to the Chicago Shamrox in exchange for Matt Roik and their first round selection in the 2008 Entry Draft and their first round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft.

Second - San Jose trades to Edmonton

03/17/2009
EDMONTON RUSH: Have traded Steve Dietrich to the Toronto Rock in exchange for their second round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft. Have traded Andrew Biers to the San Jose Stealth in exchange for a first round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft.

That pick that the Wings dealt to Chicago is lost per the NLL.

Yeah but who determines that the pick they dealt to Edmonton was the "SanJose-owned-Chicago-sourced" pick or San Jose's own pick?

Under that notion...
1. Edmonton (5-11) owned now by TOR [Benesch deal] how did it get to ROC according to Tuts?
2. Toronto (6-10) owned by ROC [Huntley deal, SJ was a 3rd player in this one
3. MINNESOTA (6-10)
4. Philadelphia (7-9)
5 Colorado (7-9)
6 Rochester (7-9) owned by COL - GAIT deal
7 San Jose (7-9)
8 Portland (9-7)
9 Boston (10-6)
10 Buffalo (10-6)
11 New York (10-6)
12 Calgary (12-4)

and so on...?

Here is a link to Tutka's March 17 article about the draft, He explains how each pick got to where it is. It should explain all of it.

It would be spelled out in the trade Tuka's info came from the NLL so it should be correct

Philly traded their pick to chicago...they already got value in the trade, they get nothing else...the pick disappears since Shamrox disappeared.

Chicago's pick eventually ended up with Edmonton, Shamrox could not be slotted since (duh..) they did not play...so by rule that pick goes to the end of the first round.

This looks correct to me:

1. Rochester Knighthawks (via Edmonton Rush)
2. Rochester Knighthawks (via Toronto Rock)
3. Minnesota Swarm
4. Colorado Mammoth
5. Colorado Mammoth (via Rochester Knighthawks)
6. Toronto Rock (via San Jose Stealth)
7. Toronto Rock (via Edmonton Rush, via Portland Lumberjax)
8. Boston Blazers
9. Edmonton Rush (via Buffalo Bandits)
10. New York Titans
11. Calgary Roughnecks
12. Edmonton Rush (via San Jose Stealth, via Chicago Shamrox)

Rocha, Colo, and Toronto are sitting pretty in a very strong draft...

Why doesn't Calgary have the #12 pick? I can't recall any trades.

Can someone explain to me why do Rochester get #36 overall pick (3rd Round) from Arizona when Arizona disband in 2008?

We understand the Edmonton-San Jose-Chicago situation but Rochester-Arizona? Explain please

Roy

I do not know why this is so hard for everyone it took less than 20 seconds to find with google

ROCHESTER KNIGHTHAWKS: Traded their 42nd selection in the 2007 Entry Draft to the Arizona Sting in exchange for their 83rd selection in the 2007 Entry Draft and their third round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft.

OK here goes...Calgary's pick moved up to #11 since what would have been the Philly pick at #4 dissapears since Philly traded it to Chicago who disappeared...that pick is gone from the draft, deleted, terminated, defunct, it no longer exists...so there would have been only 11 picks in the first round this year...!except the Shamrox, before going kaput, traded away their own 2009 1st round pick which eventually ended up with Edmonton, so this pick is slotted at the end of the first round in the #12 spot due to the shamrox nonexistence this year...note that the #12 pick has nothing to do with calgary.

CALGARY ROUGHNECKS: Traded Lewis Ratcliff and a conditional first or second round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft to Toronto in exchange for Josh Sanderson and their first round selection in the 2008 Entry Draft.

Yes, that explained why there is no pick in the first round. It looks like Calgary would have picked #11 but I was wondering why it was not #12.

So thanks RC.

Except it should be a non pick like Philly and Boston 08.

Before Boston took the year off Philly traded a pick in exchange for Bergey after he was selected in expansion draft(the 1st time) and Philly got nothing back because the team folded, although Boston still used the draft pick before disbanding.

The way the league does it, if you gave a pick to a team and they fold, you don't get it back. If you own a pick from a team that folds, it moves to the end of the round it was in.
