Default Best/Worst Trade Ever?

There has been a lot of speculation on these boards about deals which are about to happen or that have yet to be finalized.
It got me thinking back to some of the deals in the past which turned out horribly/terrific depending on what side of the fence you are on.
Aside from the Doyle/Benesch trade for Rock fans, the Gary Gait/1st round draft picks for Rochester fans or the Wiles/Regan deal for Wings fans, what do you think are some of the worst trades ever?

since alot of these trades are forced due to player personal committments, its hard to blame or reward a gm for a trade not entirely of his making.

brian nikola for john tavares

This trade could possibly be the difference between which of the teams involved is still around and which one folded two years later.

Buffalo even got Brian Nikola back for a season before he stopped playing in the league.

The Tavares one looks pretty compelling, but here are a couple of bad Rock trades for your consideration:

Toronto sent Shawn Williams to Buffalo for a draft pick. Don't know who they drafted with that pick, but he never played a game in the NLL. Williams had two seasons with Buffalo before being traded to Rochester, where he's been an All-Star six times.

The one that turned a powerhouse into a laughing stock: Colin Doyle, Darren Halls, and a draft pick to San Jose for Ryan Benesch, Kevin Fines, Chad Thompson, and two draft picks.

And here's one that I think was a great trade for both teams. It angered a lot of Rock fans at the time, but it brought a championship to Toronto the very next season. The Rock sent Steve Toll, Darryl Gibson, a player to be named later (Anthony Cosmo), and a couple of draft picks to San Jose for Josh Sanderson, Phil Sanderson, and Rusty Kruger.

I think Thompson and Wiles for Regan was up there as one of the worst trades in history.

Nikola for JT is pure robbery. Plain and simple, pure robbery.

Look at this - They took Thompson, packaged him with Fines, and Benesch and turned that into Colin Doyle.

Can look at this as a net of Regan plus role players and picks for Doyle!

There's a clever GM for you!
